Bumdra Trek is blessed by visiting the two most revered Buddhist pilgrimage spots in Bhutan, Bumdra and Taktshang Monastery, besides enjoying the scenic beauty of the Himalayan Mountains. Bumdra translates as “Rock of 100,000 Footprints.” The mythology claims that 100,000 Dakinis (angels) descended here and left their footprints on the rock 800 years ago. Bumdra is situated at about 3800 m above sea level, whereas Taktsang Monastery sits at about 3100 m.

Day 01: Arrival – Paro (54km, 01 hour)
On arrival at Paro airport, our representative from our company will greet you and assist in escorting you to the closest accommodation. an afternoon, followed by a visit.

Day 02: Paro – Sangchoekor – Bumdra (7km, 4 hours), Trek Begins
We will drive to Sang Choekor Buddhist College at 2800 meters and begin a hike with ponies. The first 2 hours are steep but gradually get gentler, offering stunning mountain and Paro valley views. We will camp below the Bumdra monastery, a 17th-century cave allegedly built by Buddhist female angels. If a caretaker is present, we can visit temples. If energy allows, we can continue to a 4000-meter peak for panoramic views. The round trip takes 2–3 hours. Camping at 3800 m
Day 03: Bumdra – Paro (15 km, 6 hours) Trek ends
Today we’ll start our return hike, but first we’ll take a twisting detour into the forest. We will ultimately get to ZangtoPelri (Heaven on Earth), which is positioned above the rock. We will soon start descending to the Tiger’s Nest Monastery, which is perched on a rocky ledge. From here, you can see the monastery’s roofs. Guru Rinpoche, the second Buddha in Bhutan, is claimed to have arrived in the 8th century flying on the back of a tigress and meditated where Taktsang Monastery currently stands.

Day 04: Paro – Excursion to Cheli la pass – Thimphu (127km, 3 hours)
After breakfast, drive to Chilela Pass. On a clear day, there is a superb view of Mts. Jhomolhari and Jichu Drake. followed by a visit.

Day 05: Thimphu Sightseeing
After breakfast, followed by a visit
Lunch will be served at a top tourist restaurant in town, followed by a visit.
Evenings are free for exploring the city. Staying a night in Thimphu
Day 06: Thimphu – Punakha/Wangdue (71km, 2 hours)
After breakfast, drive to Punakha via Dochu-la Pass (3,088 m). A clear day offers the most spectacular view over the highest peaks of the Himalayas.

Day 07: Punakha – Paro (125km, 03 hours)
After breakfast, drive to Paro, followed by a visit.
NB: River rafting will be offered in Punakha; however, you are liable for the cost.
