Druk Wangyel Festival
Druk Wangyel Festival, which is held every year on December 13th on Dochu-la Pass (3,088 m) at Druk Wangyel Temple, where the 108 memorial stupas are located, The Festival was established in 2011 in commemoration of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyelpo and the Armed Forces’ Victory Over Indian Insurgent Forces Residing in Southern Bhutan in 2003. It is a special occasion featuring many different mask dances presented by the Royal Bhutan Army instead of monks and lay monks. It honors His Majesty the Fourth King of Bhutan’s wise leadership and the Royal Bhutan Army’s ongoing efforts to safeguard the nation.

Day 01: Arrival – Thimphu (54km, 01 hour)
On arrival at Paro airport, our representative from our company will greet you and assist in escorting you to Thimphu. followed by a visit.
- On the way there, stop by Tachogang Lhakhang (the temple). The bridge leading there is a 15th-century iron suspension bridge.
- The Tashichho Dzong (fortress), built on the Wang Chhu riverside in 1641, is the most impressive building in Thimphu.
Evening freely wandered the city. overnight stay in Thimphu.
Day 02: Thimphu Sightseeing
After breakfast, followed by a visit.
- Memorial Chorten (Stupa) was built in 1974 in memory of the Third King of Bhutan.
- The Buddha Dordenma statue is one of the world’s largest Buddha Rupas.
- Simply Bhutan is a living museum and a photo Studio.
Lunch will be served at a top tourist restaurant in town, followed by a visit.
- Zorig Chusum is a thirteen-domain classification of arts, crafts, and technological abilities.
- National Library of Bhutan, founded 1967, preserves Bhutan’s cultural and religious heritage.

Day 03: Thimphu – Druk Wangyel Festival – Punakha/Wangdue (71km, 02 hours)
After breakfast, drive to Dochula Pass to witness the Druk Wangyel Festival. It’s a unique occasion where various mask dances are performed by the Royal Bhutan Army. It pays tribute to the wise leadership of His Majesty the Fourth King of Bhutan and celebrates the Royal Bhutan Army’s continuous efforts in protecting the country.
- Sangchen Dorji Lhendrup Nunnery, a Buddhist college and meditation center, is situated on a grassy site with a friendly community.

Day 04: Punakha Sightseeing.
After breakfast, followed by a visit.
- Take a short hike to Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten through rice fields before climbing steeply up.
- Punakha Dzong, the second oldest fortress, was built in 1637 and situated between the female and male rivers/ (the traditional wooden bridge).
- suspension bridge, one of the longest of its kind in Bhutan.
NB: River rafting will be offered in Punakha; however, you are liable for the cost.

Day 05: Punakha – Paro (125km, 03 hours)
After breakfast, drive to Paro, followed by a visit.
- On the way, stop in Lobesa and take a short hike to Chimi Temple. It is popularly believed that childless couples who worship at this shrine are typically blessed with a child fairly quickly.
- Royal Biotical Park (Lampheri)
- Airport Bird’s Eye view point and River side.
- Paro Dzong was built in 1646. As you approach the fortress, you will cross a traditional wooden bridge.

Day 06: Hike to Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest)
Drive to a hiking location after breakfast. The Taktsang Monastery is perched on a ledge of rock. It is believed that Guru Rinpoche, the second Buddha in Bhutan, is claimed to have arrived in the 8th century flying on the back of a tigress and meditated where Taktsang Monastery currently stands.
Lunch will be served in the town’s top tourist eatery. followed by a visit.

Day 07: Departure
After an early breakfast, drive to Paro airport for a flight to your onward destination.
