How to Reach Bhutan 

Entry into Bhutan can be made through air or surface transport. Druk Air and Bhutan Airlines are the only airlines operating in Bhutan. It operates regular flights to and from Paro (Bhutan) to Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Gaya, Bagdogra, and Gawahati (India). The only international airport in Bhutan is in Paro; it’s advisable to book your air tickets in advance to avoid a tourist rush.

It’s possible to enter Bhutan through surface transport from Phuentsholing (Bhutan’s southwest border town with India). We provide pick-up and drop-off facilities from Bagdogra Airport (IXB), New Japaiguri Rly Station (NJP), New Alipurdaur Rly Station, Hashimara Rly Station, and Siliguri. Phuentsholing town is a convenient point for tourists to visit the regions of Darjeeling, Kalimpong, and the state of Sikkim. We can also enter Bhutan through Samdrup Jongkher (Bhutan’s south-eastern border town to India) and Gelephu (the southern Bhutan border town to India).

Entry Permit

Indian visitors to Bhutan do not require a visa. needs to obtain a permit, which is granted and stamped on your passport at the designated point of entry on arrival. And if you’re traveling with Alluring Bhutan Travels (ABT), we can assist you in applying for a permit on your behalf beforehand. 

Sustainable development fee (SDF)

Indian visitors shall be liable to pay a concessional tourism levy. SDF contributes to free healthcare, free education, preservation, enhancement of infrastructure, and more.

Travel Insurance

Acquiring travel insurance is mandatory for visitors visiting Bhutan. Travel and medical insurance have been started by Bhutan Insurance Limited and the Royal Insurance Corporation of Bhutan. Their plan offers medical facilities along with additional features, such as protecting you and your family from any unexpected occurrences. However, it simply exists for the duration of your visit. Before the tour begins, you ought to obtain insurance from the host country; if otherwise, ABT will assist you.

Time, Climate & Clothes

Bhutan is ahead of IST (Indian Standard Time) by 30 minutes. The weather in Bhutan is reportedly pleasant, with slight variations from region to region; at night, it will be a little chilly. Security and Customs

Currency

The Bhutanese currency, Ngultrum (Nu), has a value equivalent to the Indian rupee (Rs). Indian currency is accepted all over Bhutan. However, Bhutanese ATMs rarely accept Visa, MasterCard, or MaestroCard. But you can avail POS (point of sale) at hotels, restaurants, handicrafts, shopping, and more using international cards. where 3.5% of the transaction value is the service fee rate.

Payment’s procedure

Wire transfers, NEFT, and RTGS can be used to pay for tours. 50% of the total tour cost is to be paid in advance for booking confirmation, and the remaining 50% must be paid before tour commencement.
