The Phobjikha Gangtey Trek is suitable for nature lovers. The trek takes you through the most isolated valleys of Bhutan, namely Gangtey Gompa, Phobjikha, Gogona, and Kothoka. While the central attraction of this trek is the beautiful picturesque landscape valleys and beautiful green forests of juniper, bamboo, rhododendron, magnolia, firs, oaks, spruce, dwarf rhododendrons, miniature azaleas, and cypress, The best months for nature lovers are April and early May, when the rhododendrons are in full bloom. En route, we can explore the monasteries of Gangtey and Gogona, which were established in the 17th century, and the Rinchenling Buddhist Collegiate in a nearby village. Gogona is popular for homemade local drinks and a blanket. Gangtey and Khotokha are the home for rare black-necked cranes in the winter season, while they used to migrate from the Tibetan plateau.

Day 01: Arrival – Thimphu (54km, 01 hour)
On arrival at Paro airport, our representative from our company will greet you and assist in escorting you to Thimphu. followed by a visit.

Day 02: Thimphu Sightseeing
After breakfast, visit

Day 03: Thimphu – Gangtey Gonpa (Phobjikha valley) (134km, 05 hours)
After breakfast, drive to Phobjikha valley through the Dochu-la pass (3,088 m). The highest peaks of the Himalayas are most magnificently visible on a clear day.
Lunch will be served. Along the way, the journey heads towards Phobjikha Valley, a stunning location surrounded by snow-capped mountains and verdant meadows. When you get to Gangtey Gonpa, you may enjoy an amazing panorama of the Black Mountain ranges and the lovely Phobjikha valley, which serves as the famous Black-necked Cranes’ winter home. One of the most well-known and largest Nyingmapa monasteries in the nation, Gangtey Gonpa (monastery), is located on a small hilltop surrounded by a sizable settlement. Stay overnight at Phobjikha in a farm house or hotel.
Day 04: Gangtey – Gogona, (16 km, 6-7 hours), Trek Starts
The trek starts with an upward climb through meadows and fields, ascending to Tsele La pass (3,400 m), where we stop for lunch. After lunch, we gradually walk through dense forests. After a short climb, we will reach Gogona village. The people of Gogona were originally nomads, and they speak a language called Bjopkha (the language of nomads). Overnight camp will be at Gogona Village.
Day 05: Gogona – Khotokha, (17 km, 6-7 hours)
The second day’s trek starts above Gogona village, climbing into a forest of firs, oak, spruce, rhododendron, cypress, and junipers. The climb leads us up to Shobju-la Pass (3,400 m). Then down to the wide valley of Khotokha, where the people of Sha (Wangduephodrang district) come in summer to graze their animals. Overnight camp will be at Khotokha.
Day 06: Khotokha – Wangdue/Punakha, (12 km, 5 hours) Trek ends
A trek takes us to a pass, from which the path descends steeply through ever-changing vegetation till we reach the bridge at Wangduephodrang (Chazam). where our representative will be ready to drive you to your accommodation. Overnight stay in Wangude or Punakha
NB: River rafting will be offered in Punakha; however, you are liable for the cost.
Day 07: Punakha – Paro (125km, 03 hours)
After breakfast, followed by a visit to Paro,

Day 08: Hike to Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest)
Drive to a hiking location after breakfast. The Taktsang Monastery is perched on a ledge of rock. It is believed that Guru Rinpoche, the second Buddha in Bhutan, is claimed to have arrived in the 8th century flying on the back of a tigress and meditated where Taktsang Monastery currently stands.
Lunch will be served in the town’s top tourist eatery. followed by a visit.
Evening freely strolls around town. spending the night in Paro.
Day 09: Departure
After an early breakfast, drive to Paro Airport for a flight to your onward destination.
